About The British Federation for Historical Swordplay

The BFHS is a national governing body for Historical Fencing within the UK. It was formed in 1998 by Maestro Paul Macdonald, who was the first BFHS President.

In addition to member groups' individual training, the BFHS organises seminars every year at which delegates are given the chance to cross-train in a variety of styles. Tuition is given by established BFHS instructors, and we encourage students to participate in tournaments and to practise their skills against students of other disciplines. Many BFHS instructors are regarded by the European martial arts community as leaders in their field, and are often invited to give seminars and classes across Europe, the United States and Australia.

We also give talks and demonstrations at conferences, museums and etc. If you would like to engage members of the BFHS for your own event please contact us.
